You’re interested but still have questions

Is couples therapy worth it?

Couples who work with me say they are more confident in their relationships. They know how to speak to their partner with love and respect, and they are getting more of what they need in their marriage.

Other changes they notice:

  • Conversations that lead to understanding and healing

  • Clarity about where their relationship is headed

  • Less relational stress and decrease in mental health symptoms

  • Less arguments

What is the cost per session for couples therapy? How often will we meet?

Our couples counseling journey starts with an Initial Intake Session. This three-hour session allows us to build a foundation to the work ahead. After that we will meet for on-going therapy sessions. I offer traditional 60-minute sessions and extended length sessions. Many couples benefit from 90-minute sessions. 90-minute visits mean more time to get to deeper understanding, connection and resolution.

Do you in-network with any insurance companies?

I am not in network with any insurance companies. Primarily due to the bureaucracy and limited coverage these corporations provide to mental health providers like myself. I understand that affordability is a concern and barrier for many. As a result, I do offer some sliding scale slots for couples who are experiencing financial hardship.

What can we expect from couples therapy?

You can expect compassion and healthy accountability from me. I provide feedback, offering you the ‘truth’ about what may be going wrong in your communication and how to improve it. Often, poor communication stems from not being taught how to express emotions, resolve conflicts, or ask for our needs. In couples counseling, I’ll help you learn to communicate more effectively, so you can get more of what you want from your partner.

Are you comfortable working with those in the LGBTQIA community and same-sex couples?

Yes! I am comfortable. I have experience working with same-sex couples and people who identify as trans or non-binary. Although I am cis-gendered and in a heterosexual relationship- I hold space for those who do and don’t share my identifiers!

I am not an expert in your experience or community, but I hope my compassion and acceptance make me an ally.
